I looked and I craved
the Skin and her hair
and truth lay bare
a painting of death
and a picture of health
slim chances, of walking thin lines
my friend and character rode till the end
sun kissed lips and charred lips
and more fear than distance
her eyes leapt out at me from behind
curtains and invited me in
and at once, showed me the door
this is nearly done i thought
as thoughts banished and thoughts fought
and my feet blistered instead
tore of my old skin
and prepared for the rain
clouding my sun and my eyes
hot and cold sweat broke upon my face
leaving my own, leaving her
all seen and gone, away.
